Analog Advisory Radio 022: Appian

For our first episode in May we have Detroit native, Malcolm MacLachlan aka Appian from Sly Fox Records and Clave House. As a child he was influenced early on by his mother’s mixtapes such as a house & garage classics mixtape and a Derrick May CD he still has today. Named one of SPIN magazine’s “Ten Detroit Up-And-Coming Techno Producer’s to Watch” in 2015 Malcom curates a deep, groovy, & soulful sound that is fresh while staying true to his roots and early influences of house and disco. His ‘Space Out’ EP on ANMA Records (London) just released earlier this month including a remix from legendary producer, Orlando Voorn. Be sure to check out Leezy’s chat with Appian as they discuss early beginnings, his record digging process, his Elixir party during Movement, and much more. Followed by a guest mix from the man himself, to finish off the last hour of the show.

For the first segment, Leezy introduces track premieres from Lootbeg & Nova Casa (Palm Structures), Tserg & Tech Support (Juicy Traxxx), Stefan Seay & WILLYOUARENOT & Sir Roscoe (Cool Contest), Collin Sullivan (A Friend In Need), Ghetto 25 (Thé Chaud Records), Crone (HLF / PIN), and DJ Bowlcut (Yellow Island Records). You’ll find all these tracks under our “Premieres 2019” playlist on our Soundcloud channel.

Join us every 1st and 3rd Friday of every month from 10 PM to Midnight (PST) on VPN Radio.
