Daphni – Xing Tian

Caribou’s Dan Snaith released his second album titled ‘Joli Mai’ under his dance music moniker ‘Daphni’ on October 6th 2017. One of the favorites on the new album is ‘Xing Tian’ named after a decapitated Chinese Deity. A dark, rolling, drum pattern intertwined with the rattles of the shakers give this tune the metamorphic march in pursuit of divine supremacy while maintaining loose melodies drawn out by ever longing organs. Listener can envision the struggle Xing Tian endured from the beginning to the apex of the track for his efforts to ultimately conclude in failure when Daphni abruptly kills the drums at the end; polarizing his decapitation leaving nothing but the rattles to fade.
